Real Estate Market Seeing Rough August

Filed under: Real Estate — Dave Phillips @ 3:43 pm

I have not been blogging lateley because I have been finishing a writing project that was on deadline.  Done, so I’m back to blogging.

I was preparing for a presentation on Tuesday and running some figures for the August real estate market.  The numbers are not final yet, but it looks like this will be the lowest August for real estate sales in the Charlottesville area in many years.  We have been tracking 2004 numbers all year, but August appears to have slipped back into the 1990’s.

I’m guessing the mortgage crisis is the biggest factor.  Charlottesville is not seeing a lot of foreclosures, compared to other areas, but the ripple effect from the financing world is affecting us.  The recent moves by the feds should help.  Better late than never.
